Commission a BS 7976 sample test and you can expect the following:

BS 7976 Pendulum test results using slider #55/TRL (representing barefoot pedestrians) or #96/4S (representing shod pedestrians) as required.

Surface roughness (Rz) measurement.

Full independent certification stating methodology, classification of results and, where appropriate, comment on suitability for end use.

UKAS calibration certificates for all test equipment on request.

A fast service with a guaranteed sample turn around of 5 working days. Samples are typically turned around within 24 hours of receipt.

Return of your sample if required.

Our sample testing service is well suited to;

Certification of products for sale or tender.

Comparison of the anti-slip properties of a range of prospective products for a given application.

Evidence of indicative slip resistance prior to release of legal aid.

Evidence in slip and fall injury cases where testing of the in-situ surface is impossible or prohibitively expensive.

Independent verification of anti-slip treatments.

BS7976-2 pendulum testing remains the HSE and UKSRG's preferred slip testing method, suitable for floor specification, risk assessment and used extensively in litigation.
Surface roughness measurement gives an indication of performance in contaminated conditions and allows easy long term monitoring.

Requirements:

Any samples submitted should be of at least 300mm x 300mm to allow directional tests to be completed on adjacent areas. This is in line with UKSRG recommendations. Testing can be conducted on smaller samples in some circumstances, please contact us to discuss this if it is not possible to supply a standard size sample.

Treatments, paints, films or excessively thin samples should be applied or mounted on a material representative of end use prior to submission. Films submitted for testing unmounted will be applied to a hard smooth surface such as float glass.

Care should be taken when selecting samples to ensure the specimen is flat. Due to the nature of the pendulum test any bowed samples will significantly affect results.

Samples should be marked as "Test Specimen" and sent to us at:

Please note that we are not equipped to accept palletised deliveries without prior warning.

If you have any questions or queries with regard to our sample testing service please get in touch.

All equipment used is externally calibrated to UKAS standards and calibration documents are available on request.
A full report is issued in PDF format via e-mail usually less than 24 hours after receipt of the test sample. You can request a sample report here.
