A
revised Local Authority Circular on the subject of slips and trips has been released by the HSE. Whilst aimed at those seeking to inspect, enforce and regulate slip and trip safety, the circular provides valuable information for anyone dealing with slips and trips in a kitchen/catering/hospitality environment.
The circular and associated references and guidance can be found on the HSE's website here.
The HSE article states, "SAT can be useful as it can outline the slip risk to employers, give you some indication as to where the business is failing as regards slips, and provide data on floor roughness. If serving a notice to replace a new floor, or taking a prosecution, do not rely on SAT data, request scientific support". Grip Potential can provide such scientific support with a comprehensive and independent assessment of slip risk to HSE/HSL/UKSRG recommended methods.
